Wildwood Arts Retreats
Creative residencies on the West Coast of Scotland.
The Artist's HutNestled on the hill behind our home, the Artist's Hut is a "room of one's own" inspired by traditional shepherds' huts and mountain bothies. Hand built by Leon during lockdown, making use of reclaimed and natural materials, it offers a peaceful haven for those who enjoy being close to nature. Just big enough for one or two people to dwell in for a while, more details on the facilities can be found here.
If you often give your creative energies to other people, and face challenges sustaining your own practice and wellbeing, I encourage you to apply for a self-directed residency, of between 1-3 weeks, on an individually negotiated basis. Exchanges of time, skills or artworks are welcome. We will only be hosting a small number of these residencies each year. If you are interested, please get in touch to request an information pack. You can view my blog post about the area here and a project connected to the first phase of residencies here. |
The CaravanTucked between woodland, hillside, studio and forest-garden is our vintage caravan.
It offers a cosy retreat whether you are visiting solo, as a twosome, or with family. There are two small bedrooms, a comfortable living/dining area, kitchen and bathroom. The Jotul wood burner will keep you warm on cold nights. |
Rest and InspirationNot every day has blue skies here, but every day is different.
Find inspiration in the changing conditions of the West Coast, feel the rhythms and patterns of nature, get close to the elements. Listen to the owls calling at night, the trees rustling in the wind, the bees humming in their hives nearby. Stroll down to the loch and soak up the freshness. Look out for otters, deer, and divers. |
The StudioSometimes we need to cease activity altogether in order to allow fresh ideas to surface. But after a deep rest, energies can return.
Get back into your flow in a stimulating, creative and supportive setting. Space in the studio can be available by arrangement, to share and develop ideas, sit by the wood stove, read, talk, and make art. Outdoor work spaces are also available. Get in touch to discuss your needs and what we can offer. |
"Such a special time spent with you in the studio - what a warm and inspiring space!"
"A practical and inviting space, with a surplus of creative resources, and lovely company!"

"Coming up from my busy life in Glasgow, I realise that I don't have a lot of time or space there for being creative myself. This was just what I needed, and I feel so refreshed!" |
